Laurel and Hardy, two idle and destitute men, are entertaining themselves by fishing in the port when they stumble upon a newspaper that contains an advertisement for the reading of the will of the affluent Mr. Laurel. Laurel and Hardy, hoping to receive a share of the inheritance, head to Mr. Laurel's house, oblivious to the fact that he has been murdered, and the situation is vastly different from what they envision.
